Towards a Sustainable Future: Alexandria Water Company Showcases Research and Development Achievements and its Future Vision for Enhancing Innovation and Digital Transformation…

As part of the Alexandria Water Company's commitment to continuous development and performance improvement, supporting scientific research and innovation, and employing the latest technologies, and under the patronage of Eng. Elsayed Rayan, Chairman and Managing Director, the General Department of Research and Development organized a comprehensive workshop at the Mansheya (1) Water Treatment Plant. The workshop showcased the company's most prominent achievements, research and technological projects, and future vision. Attendees included sector heads, general managers, department directors, and a number of company leaders and employees.

Eng. Elsayed Rayan emphasized that scientific research and innovation are fundamental pillars of the company's strategy for developing its operations. He noted that the next phase requires expanding the use of scientific ideas and modern technologies, transforming them into practical applications that contribute to increased operational efficiency and improved service quality. He added, “We believe that true development begins within the organization, and that investing in minds and competencies is the foundation for building the future. We always strive to provide a supportive environment for innovation and scientific research, and to utilize the latest technologies to achieve the highest levels of efficiency and sustainability, preserve our water resources, and improve the level of service provided to citizens.”

Scientific Research: Our Path to Sustainability

The workshop was opened by Dr. Maysa Salah El-Din Ismail, Consultant and Director General of Research and Development, who emphasized that scientific research is no longer a luxury, but rather a necessity and a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable development and envisioning a more efficient future in water resource management.

During the workshop, the Research and Development departments presented a range of projects and achievements that reflect the company's efforts in supporting innovation and implementing modern technologies. Among the most prominent were:

Water Research Department:

Engineer Ramadan Mohamed reviewed the department's most significant achievements, particularly the “Experimental Water Unit,” which serves as a miniature model of a water treatment plant. This unit is used to conduct experiments and test modern technologies in preparation for studying their potential application on a larger scale. Water and Environmental Studies Department:

Engineer Yasmine Mostafa presented on the department's efforts to address climate challenges, monitor emissions, and measure the company's carbon footprint, supporting the company's commitment to sustainability and green transformation.

Scientific Communication and Technology Transfer Department:

Engineer Ahmed Shehata, the department director, reviewed the department's efforts to transfer and localize the latest technologies in water production and treatment through joint workshops with manufacturers and specialists, and by activating academic and research collaborations and protocols.

Digital Innovation Unit:

Professor Mohamed El-Amin presented several digital transformation projects, including the automation of the human resources sector, the automation of the vehicle workshop and operations, and the digital library project, all of which contribute to improving the work environment and enhancing the speed and efficiency of performance.

Institutional Integration Creates Success:

The workshop participants emphasized that the achievements are the result of cooperation and integration between the General Directorate of Research and Development and all company sectors, under the continuous support and encouragement of senior management for innovative ideas and development projects. These efforts come within the framework of the Egyptian state's orientation towards digital transformation and sustainable development, in line with Egypt's Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals, through building a more efficient, innovative, and sustainable system for water resource management.

At the conclusion of the workshop, Dr. Maysa Salah El-Din Ismail expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the company's leadership and all sectors, and to all employees of the General Directorate of Research and Development, emphasizing that the achievements realized are the result of collective work and genuine collaboration among the company's employees, and a firm belief that science and innovation are the path to a better and more sustainable future.
