Alexandria Water Company Renews ISO Energy Management Certification for El-Mansheya (2) Treatment Plant, Continuing its Leadership in Sustainability and Operational Efficiency…
In another achievement added to its ongoing successes, the Alexandria Water Company announced the renewal of its ISO 50001 Energy Management System certification for El-Mansheya (2) Water Treatment Plant. This follows a successful external audit conducted by NES, the agent of Eurocert, reaffirming the plant's leading position as the first in the drinking water and wastewater sector to receive the certification since 2023.
This achievement reflects the company's commitment to implementing the latest international systems in water treatment plant management and operation. This ensures improved performance efficiency, energy conservation, and the achievement of sustainable development goals, in line with the Egyptian government's focus on promoting green transformation and optimal resource utilization.
Eng./Mr. Rayan, Chairman and Managing Director, affirmed that the renewal of the ISO 50001 certification reflects the company's success in establishing a corporate culture based on continuous improvement and achieving the highest levels of operational efficiency. He noted that the company prioritizes energy conservation and environmental sustainability during this current phase.
He added, "We are proud to maintain this achievement for the third consecutive year, which confirms that the Alexandria Water Company is steadily progressing towards implementing global best practices in energy management. This is achieved through reliance on modern technology, increased operational efficiency, and reduced losses, contributing to providing a distinguished and sustainable service to the citizens of Alexandria."
He also explained that the company continues to support and develop energy systems across its various work sites, while promoting a culture of awareness regarding the importance of rationalizing consumption and maximizing the use of available resources.
For his part, Eng. Walid Khader, Head of the West and North Coast Production and Distribution Sector, affirmed that the Mansheya (2) station represents a successful model of integration between operational efficiency and sound energy management. He commended the efforts of the station's work teams and all relevant departments in maintaining outstanding performance levels and meeting the requirements of the international certification.
Eng. Walid Khader added that renewing the ISO energy certification is not merely an international accreditation, but a practical confirmation of the company's teams' ability to achieve the highest levels of efficiency and adherence to quality and sustainability standards. This motivates us to continue our work and ongoing development across all production and distribution sites.
In the same context, the lead auditor from NES praised the positive results achieved by the station, emphasizing that the work system reflects supportive leadership and an effective institutional framework based on continuous improvement and conscious energy management, in line with global trends towards clean energy and sustainable development. Dr. Essam Abdel-Magid, Director General of the Technical Office, pointed out that this success was achieved thanks to the full cooperation and coordination between the General Directorate for Energy Conservation, the General Directorate of the Technical Office (Quality Assurance Department), and the management of the Mansheya (2) station, under the supervision of the various work team leaders. He emphasized that renewing the certification represents a strong impetus towards achieving further accomplishments in the coming period.
